Jake Hewlett completes Dragon Sport Britcar line-up in the Clio Cup class

Jake Hewlett is the final Dragon Sport driver for the 2023 season and will partner Travis Coyne in the Clio Cup class of Britcar Trophy in the number 92 car.

Jake, and Travis, were runners up in the Dragon Sport scholarship that took place at the end of 2022. That year was his first in real-world motorsport competition, winning the Type R Trophy on his debut whilst running his own team. Prior to that he spent a lot of time racing on simulators to learn his craft.

Jake said, “I am excited to get started with the Britcar Trophy and learn an entirely new dynamic, running 2023 alongside some of what I feel are the most experienced possible teammembers it's sure to be a true challenge and nailbiter throughout.”

Dragon Sport CEO Rhys Lloyd said, “We are delighted that Jake has upgraded himself from Dragon Sport Ambassador by way of his efforts in our Scholarship, to driver alongside Travis. They have raced against each other before and now will race together. Jake has been fast out of the box and has done a great job learning the car and team in testing.”

The Britcar Trophy series will start next weekend at the Silverstone GP circuit before it visits Brands Hatch for one of its two-hour races. The team will then race at Oulton Park, Silverstone for another two-hour event, Snetterton and then the finale at Donington Park on the GP layout in October.

Alongside Rhys and Jack Meakin in another Clio Cup car the team are set to be a real force in the Britcar Class.
